Awards

Rolls-Royce - Aerospace Group Prize, on 10th June 1996, given to his PhD work at carried out at Cranfield University (United kingdom).

New Technologies award, on the 1st youth gala in Guimarães, on 27 September 2003, organized by C.M.J.G / Cooperativa O Povo de Guimarães, given to the youths from city of Guimarães which develop relevant work on technology (robotic).

Câmara Municipal de Guimarães Award, on 24 June 2004 – education boost award by his relevant work on new technologies.

Comendador da Ordem de Instrução Pública, given by his eminence the President of the Portuguese Republic, Dr. Jorge Sampaio, on 10 June 2005, recognised by his scientific and pedagogical work on the Robotic area.

Nortinov award Ideas Competition by Agência de Inovação, to his work on “Veículos Totalmente Omnidireccionais” been selected 30 out of 157 projects on competition, with 10,000.

InventUMinho award – 3rd place - for his concept of the omnidirectional wheelchair “cadeira de rodas omnidireccional”, June 2005.

Prémio BES – health and safety area - 1st place (on 207 projects) on the Concurso Nacional de Inovação BES, receiving the award on the 5 December 2005 at Portugal pavilion at Parque EXPO, by the President of the Bank BES Dr. Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Salgado and by the Minister of Economics and Innovation Prof. Doutor Manuel Pinho.

Medal of  sports/science merit, given by the Fafe council at the Sports Party’2006, 4 October 2006, by the work developed with the footballer robots.

Eng. Jaime Filipe award, Honours mention, by the work developed with the omnidirectional wheelchair, on 30 November 2006, receiving the award on the Governo Civil da Guarda with the presence of the secretária de estado to rehabilitation Dra. Idália Moniz, on 28 November 2007.

Other Interests

I love my city of Guimarães which is World Heritage, European Capital of Culture 2010, and has one of the 7 wonders of Portugal (castle of Guimarães).

My football team is Vitória Sport Clube (Vitória de Guimrães) from my city

I like to lpay football, listen to music while working, visiting other countries.

I was scout for many years at the 331 Group (S. Dâmaso). Now I belong to Fraternidade NunÁlvares (for those who don’t have the time).

I like to travel and meet new places.
