As part of the celebrations of the 52nd anniversary of the University of Minho, held on 18 February at the Rectorate of the University of Minho in Braga, the Guimarães City Council Award was presented. This distinction recognises the best student from the 1st‑cycle programmes taught at the Guimarães campus.

The award, granted to the student who completes their degree with the highest final classification — provided it is equal to or above 16 out of 20 — was presented by the Mayor of Guimarães, Dr. Ricardo Araújo.

This year, the distinction was awarded to Mariana Ariza Martins, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Electronics and Computers Engineering, who completed the programme with an outstanding final grade of 18.67.

In addition to her excellent academic performance, Mariana Ariza Martins also stands out for her contribution to academic life, currently serving as the Internal Vice-President of the Students’ Association for Industrial Electronics and Computers Engineering of the University of Minho (NEEEICUM).

The Department of Industrial Electronics congratulates the student for her dedication, merit, and exemplary academic path, wishing her continued success in her future professional and scientific endeavours.
