The objective of the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering (PDEBIOM), offered jointly by the Departments of Industrial Electronics, Biological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering University of Minho University, is to provide a an educational environment that encourages students to develop the capacity to contribute to the advancement of technology through creative and autonomous research in the scientific area of Biomedical Engineering.
The scientific domain of the program is Biomedical Engineering. The implementation of the PDEBIOM consists of a curricular component, with 60 ECTS, and in the elaboration of a Doctoral Thesis. The conclusion of the curricular component will confer a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Biomedical Engineering, with the final classification obtained from the classifications of the curricular units that constitute the curriculum.
Conditions of Admission:
1. The holders of a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent are admitted to the application for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering.
2. Holders of a bachelor’s degree (5 years) in areas related to Biomedical Engineering are also admitted to the Biomedical Engineering Doctoral Program as long as they hold a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum that is recognized as attesting to the of this cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the School of Engineering.
3. Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the Scientific Council of Engineering as proof of the ability to carry out this cycle of studies are also admitted to the application for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering.
4. Candidates who fulfill one of the requirements in points a) to c) of point 1 of article 7 / Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering, and candidates who meet one of the requirements (1) (b) and (c)) / of Decree-Law 74/2006 of 24 March.
