The Doctoral Program in Electronic and Computer Engineering (PDEEC) is a teaching project of the Algoritmi Center of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho that seeks to guarantee its students a capacity for systematic understanding in the specific domain of Electronic and Computer Engineering, training in broader areas in order to provide integrated and high-level training. To that end, the PDEEC gives trainees the competences, skills and research methods that ensure the ability to design, design, adapt and carry out a high level scientific research project, according to internationally accepted quality and innovation parameters.
The course consists of a curricular component and the elaboration of a thesis. It has a minimum duration of 3 years – 1 year for curricular component and 2 years for the conclusion of the doctoral thesis -, preferring a total of 180 ECTS. The completion of the curricular component (or “PhD course”) entitles you to a Diploma of “Advanced Studies in Electronic and Computer Engineering.” The thesis necessarily comprises original research work with a clear contribution to enlargement knowledge frontiers in the course area.
The PDEEC covers most of the scientific areas in which the Algoritmi Center has worked and developed competences, namely:
- Control, Automation and Robotics
- Power and Energy Electronics
- Industrial Informatics and Embedded Systems
- Electronic Instrumentation and Microsystems
- Telecommunications and Computer Communications
- Information Systems Technology
