Exhibition of Student Projects and Master’s Open Day Highlight Excellence of Industrial Electronics Engineering at UMinho

13 de February de 2026

On February 5, the Department of Industrial Electronics of the School of Engineering at the University of Minho hosted a new edition of the Exhibition of Projects by Undergraduate Students in Industrial Electronics and Computers Engineering, an initiative that once again showcased the quality, creativity, and technical maturity of the work developed throughout the semester.

The event, held on the Azurém campus in Guimarães, brought together dozens of prototypes, technological demonstrations, and innovative applications created by students, who had the opportunity to publicly present and explain the results of their academic efforts. Parallel to the exhibition, the Master’s Open Day took place, offering visitors an overview of the second-cycle programmes in Electronics, Automation, Computers, and Intelligent Systems.

Visit of Six Secondary and Vocational School Classes

This edition also welcomed six classes from secondary and vocational schools, namely:

  • Escola de Monserrate (Viana do Castelo)
  • Externato S. Miguel de Refojos (Cabeceiras de Basto)

Visiting students were able to explore the academic environment of the School of Engineering, engage with projects developed by DEI students, and clarify questions regarding future academic pathways. For many, this was the first opportunity to experience, hands-on, areas such as robotics, applied electronics, embedded systems, and computing.

Acknowledgment and Recognition

The Department of Industrial Electronics expresses its gratitude to all participating students, highlighting the quality of the projects, the technical rigor demonstrated, and the clear and engaging way in which they presented their work to the public.

The collaboration of faculty members, technical staff, and School of Engineering services also contributed significantly to the success of this edition, reinforcing UMinho’s position as a national reference in Industrial Electronics and Computers Engineering education.

Featured in the Media

The relevance of the event was also recognized with a headline and report in the newspaper Correio do Minho, which emphasized both the exhibition and the Master’s Open Day, highlighting their impact in strengthening the connection between the university, students, and the wider educational community.
