Students from the Industrial Electronics Department at UMinho unveil 14 technological innovations on the Azurém campus – Guimarães – February 5th

26 de January de 2026

A smart aquarium, a thermal cocktail table, a self-illuminated walkway, and a transport robot are among the 14 prototypes that 50 students from the School of Engineering at the University of Minho (EEUM) will present to the public on February 5th in Guimarães. The technologies were conceived as part of the undergraduate degree in Industrial Electronics and Computer Engineering at UMinho. The exhibition and live demonstration of these innovations will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the central hall of the Azurém campus.

The exhibition also features a device that tests reactions, a robotic arm, an induction charging track, a mini-brake, a car that follows a light or a line, as well as integrated audio amplifiers and equalizer, a DC motor activated by an H-bridge, and an automatic motor-generator alternator.

The projects were developed this semester in the Integrated Project course, in groups of three to five students, putting creativity, innovative capacity and learning skills to the test. The authors had to ensure that each technology has useful and competitive functions, affordable production cost, safe use, high reliability, adequate certification and complete documentation. Posters, videos of the prototypes in operation and support materials for these projects will also be on display in the central hall, and will be evaluated during the day by 11 professors from the Department of Industrial Electronic Engineering at EEUM.
