Maria Susano do Vale, a student in the Master’s Programme in Biomedical Engineering – Medical Informatics at the University of Minho, has been named one of the winners of the 2nd Edition of the OERN Master’s Award 2026.

The distinction recognises the work developed within the scope of her master’s dissertation, entitled A Teacher-Centred AI Platform for Co-Creating Adaptive Learning Tasks for Neurodivergent Children, which explores the use of Artificial Intelligence to foster more inclusive and personalised educational experiences.

Developed at the ALGORITMI Research Centre and the Department of Industrial Electronics (DEI), under the supervision of Filomena Soares and Vinícius Silva, the project aims to create a teacher-centred platform that enables educators to co-create and adapt learning activities to the specific needs of neurodivergent children.

By supporting teachers in the design of more accessible and tailored learning experiences, the project contributes to promoting greater inclusion and engagement in educational settings.

For the Department of Industrial Electronics, this award represents further recognition of the excellence of its students and their ability to transform scientific and technological knowledge into innovative solutions with meaningful social impact.

Congratulations, Maria, on this outstanding achievement! 🎉
