ECS Summer School 2026: Applications Open for Engineering Students

The Department of Industrial Electronics announces that applications are now open for the 4th edition of the ECS (Electronic Components and Systems) Summer School 2026, an initiative shared with us by the Director‑General of the INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory.

The Summer School will take place from 23 to 28 August 2026, in Bertinoro, Italy, bringing together 40 students from across Europe for an intensive week dedicated to the semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem. The programme includes specialised lectures, technical sessions, industry insights, and multiple networking opportunities, offering participants a comprehensive overview of the European Electronics Components and Systems (ECS) landscape.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate students may apply if, by the start of the Summer School, they:

  • have completed at least two years of university studies;
  • have at least one academic year remaining before completing their undergraduate degree;
  • are enrolled in a STEM discipline;
  • study at a higher education institution located in the European Union or an associated country;
  • have a good command of English, as all activities will be conducted in English.

Practical Information

  • Dates: 23–28 August 2026
  • Location: Bertinoro, Italy
    (shuttle transport between Bologna and the venue will be provided)
  • Costs: food and accommodation fully covered for selected students
  • Applications open: 12 February 2026

Selection Process

Selection will be based on:

  • motivation letter,
  • 1 to 3 recommendation letters (optional),
  • transcript of records.

The selection process will seek to ensure gender diversity, geographical balance, and a variety of academic backgrounds.
Results will be communicated to applicants on 5 May 2026.
